Desire Street Academy (DSA) provides an excellent education for junior and senior high African American urban males. Most of DSA's students come from underserved neighborhoods where poverty and crime are part of their everyday life. DSA's goal however is to empower these young men academically, physically, spiritually and socially, so they are equipped and motivated for a future that includes college, family, God and service to others. With a vision to pursue excellence in academics, athletics and the arts in a Christian context, the Academy is more than a school. It's a family.

Teachers - We need Christian educators with at least a Bachelors degree in Education or an academic concentration in a high school subject area. You must be certified by the State of Louisiana or willing to seek LA state certification. We are looking for teachers with 5 years of teaching experience in inner-city schools, having either an internship/practicum or other employment experience in non-urban educational settings. Ability to teach multiple subjects a plus. Retired educators encouraged to apply. Current vacancies include the following certified teaching positions:  English, Science, Mathematics, Art, and Special Education. 

Development Manager - This position in coordination with the Desire Street Ministries development team, coordinates and supports fundraising efforts for the school’s budget, and coordinates with the Baton Rouge community to arrange speaking opportunities, events and marketing of DSA. This person will oversee the gathering of human interest stories, photos and articles for ministry publications. We are looking for a Christian with 1-3 years of previous experience in non-profit fundraising experience, marketing, public and media relations.
