When I was growing up, the best part about Christmas was being with my family. Even though my dad was in the military and we moved all over the world, we cherished those times and they grew us closer together.
The 2007 Desire Street Academy (DSA) football team proudly wore the words “A strong family” on their jerseys—and it showed on the football field. In both good and bad times for the team this year, these young men demonstrated unity and perseverance. They began to embody the concept of a strong family.
I’m grateful to God for Leroy Scott, who is our Director of Spiritual and Leadership Development, and has been our Interim Principal at DSA this school year. His calling to the Baton Rouge, LA area is very encouraging to me personally as we see that he is God’s provision for the Ministry’s work there.
The Desire Street Ministries family has grown this year as well with the addition of several great staff. I’m thankful for J.B. Watkins (pictured below), who has joined us to lead our church plant in the St. Roch a nd St. Claude neighborhoods of New Orleans, LA. It was a special blessing to participate in his ordination service at St. Roch Community Church on December 2nd.
Our family is growing geographically too. Desire Street Ministries is beginning to have an impact beyond New Orleans and Baton Rouge. We never cease to be amazed at how God is moving through Bryan Kelly in the Washington Park neighborhood in west Montgomery, AL.
Last but far from least, all of us at Desire Street Ministries are thankful that you are part of our family. We consider those who support and pray for this ministry to be more than just partners; you are our extended family and we are blessed that you are “with us” this Christmas.
Serving with You,
Danny Wuerffel
