Welcome to Desire Street Ministries

Desire Street Ministries, located in New Orleans, is an incarnational ministry focused on indigenous leadership development. To this day our mission is to revitalize the Desire neighborhood through spiritual and community development.

Our philosophy of incarnational ministry, patterned after the life of Christ who “came and dwelt among us,” means our ministry team lives in the neighborhood, facing the realities of life together with those we serve. We share transportation, meals, resources and the experiences of daily life with one another. In this way, the children and families here know we understand first-hand the struggles they face.

We believe true transformation will come when individuals from the area devote themselves to this task. For this reason, indigenous leadership development is a primary focus for Desire Street Ministries.
